So there’s a lot of folks out there who think twitter sucks, is stupid, they don’t get it, it’s a waste of time, facebook is much better, this and that social network is better than twitter, etc., etc.
The people I know who use and love facebook seem to have relationships with their friends and family on facebook. They discover new people through those relationships, or friend people on facebook who they look up to or admire. They like the threaded discussions, the videos, the pix, etc.
What do you think? Do you think twitter sucks? Twitter is hugely popular and of course there’s people who think it’s going to get more popular and there’s people who think it will become less popular.
But I’m finding it interesting, that some of the people I know who come from facebook don’t like twitter and think it’s stupid. I want to know why, and if anything, I want to hear from twitter users who are using it because they’re trying to figure it out or because they feel like they have to, or whatever reason you’re using twitter for or trying to use twitter, let me know.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments and if you don’t want to leave a comment, select a response in the twitter poll below. Well, whether you leave a comment or not, please select a response.

It has been said that “Facebook is for people you already know, Twitter is for people you want to know”. I have to absolutely agree. FB is great to catch up on your past, I don’t use it for networking or connecting at all. The main reason – all those silly games, quizzes and gifts drive me to drink (not really) but FB seems really juvenile to me. Everyone has a different slant on it, and you can use whichever social networking site the way you choose. Great post
Scott Taylor’s last blog post..“Come Together” Michael Jackson- Great video
OK. So I HATE the stupid little quizzes and other apps that muddy the stream on Facebook. But here’s what I DO like:
1. You can post a link or photo and include a thumbnail. I’m a visual person so that gets my vote.
2. You can comment on someone’s status, link, or post and the comment stays with it so that you see the comment in it’s context.
I originally joined FB to reconnect with old friends, but have found that it’s also a great way to connect with people who have similar interests, such as other photographers. In fact, I probably interact with total strangers on Facebook more than old friends.
I like Twitter’s 140 character limit. It forces me to be brief, which is a challenge if you haven’t already figured that out by the length of this comment!
I don’t like reading replies like “@JohnPublic You are so correct. That is an excellent suggestion for improving the shot!”
Huh? Wha? I wanna know what that suggestion was without having to go to JohnPublic’s page to try to find that update.
I guess I want the best of both worlds.

@Scott Taylor – Yes that’s seems to be the case for me to, FB for catching up, but I’m slowly integrating it with everything – friends I grew up with, family, internet friends, linking to other social networks, etc.
@Kim Thibodeaux – Thanks for stoppin’ by and commenting. I like the 140 character, in fact from a retweeting point of view I’m starting to try and keep it at 120 so retweeters have space to add something.
Have you tried Power Twitter? It adds a tone of functionality to the main twitter.com home page – retweet link, vids, pix, etc. Pretty cool.
I actually like reading the results of the FB quizzes, games, etc. I just never take the time to take any of them – at least not yet.
