Today is Memorial Day in the United States and here’s a list of 10 tweets honoring those who have died while in military service, as well as those who serve and have served.

Today marked a big day in twitter history as twitter grows leaps and bounds – quickly.  Actor and tweeter Ashton Kutcher, @aplusk, made it to 1,000,000 followers.  There was a contest going on between CNN and Ashton to see who could make it to a million followers first.

Ashton was in the race, not only because he is addicted to twitter but because he was doing it for a good cause – Malaria.  The website Malaria No More, @MalariaNoMore, is the the cause Asthon supports.  You can contribute as well.

In addtion to Ashton hitting a million followers, he was also on @Oprah today where Oprah tweeted for the first time.  Last night, 4/16/09, Oprah has approximately 40K+ followers and tonight she has over 200K followers.  WOW!!

Ashton was also on Larry King with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, @iamdiddy, Jimmy Fallon @jimmyfallon, and Ryan Seacrest, @RyanSeacreast, discussing twitter and how they got started on twitter and what twitter means to them.

Some of the other topics they discussed about twitter included how it’s a real-time stream of news and the real-time feedback that twitter provides.

Ashton mentioned that typically they can find out almost immediately what celebrities that join twitter are real or not.  A quick phone call between them usually does the trick.

Another bit of information that was shared when Larry King asked the question, “How does twitter make money?”, Ashton mentioned that twitter is currently in that phase that YouTube was when it first started out needed to figure out how to monetize their service.
